stewart R301A connection info please
Got an older resto, SW converter, may need lytics. CAN someone please give connection info, knob control description, Thanks.
:scratch2: will post pictures later. It's great older labor of love, preserved for future generations, looks older and is 1931! I need at at least 1 SW set, intersting add on. What size of antenna is preferred? plug for chassis needs voltage? Even chassis was cleaned and polished. will post pics later. :thmbsp::yes: |
Here's the schematic. Click on the green "eyeball" to open.
http://www.nostalgiaair.org/PagesByM...7/M0029907.pdf This converter robs B+ from the radio set that it's used with. You could use an electrolytic to replace the 2mfd @ 400V: could use 5 mfd. @ 450 V for a little better filtering. Then there are a handful of other caps. The connections: long wire antenna to Ant, set B+ to Gnd, Output to set's antenna terminal. When the converter is switched off, the switch on the converter connects the long wire antenna directly to the set's antenna terminal, bypassing the converter. You'd need to devise a better plug/socket arrangement for the B+ to avoid exposed high voltage. Read the first page of instructions carefully, noting all the caveats about how to connect the B+. |

Thanks Reece for info,
I looked up riders and had to do dropping resistor since voltage available was too high, power supply has convenient terminal strips from some of the B+ supply. This is easily available w/out removing any chassis. One band seems to extend just pass AM band?. Second band produced good results getting radio Thailand from Thaipei, also got CRI radio from china and others using a 30 ft long ariel. I have some thin magnet wire just right to string across field for longer ariel for true DXing. some stations are funky and weird w/ different subjects. IS THIS 1st SW converter made by this company? 1931 colonial style, early. Haven't tried, I guess a good ground helps?? :scratch2: |
