They wrote "1940's." Hah! It's 1920's. I believe it's either a model 42 from 1928, or a 46 from 1929. They are among the first AC sets. AC switch under the volume control on the right. The volume control adjusted from full antenna on to short to ground. The tuning knob turned three condensers linked with a metal belt. There's a fine tuning knob under the main tuning that just bears against the edge of the large knob.

Is that desk original to the radio? I've heard of AK having some furniture made for their radios, like the Kiel table. In another listing they have dropped the price to $500.
Is this radio desk rare?

Don't know if the desk was sold by AK or an aftermarket. Some consoles were made so you could slide one of those late twenties "tin can" radios right into them.

The model 40 sets also had that front panel layout, and were early AC sets. I should know I own a 40, and just helped a friend bring his 40 back to life.
