radio & tv swap meets
are there any tv swap meets around the country, i quess something like the hamfest we used have once a year around my area south bend indiana ,at the century center it used to be all mostly parts of any kind and test equitment ,they stopped it because of the bridle show was more important. i think we need to have more swap meets for tv and radio someplace were they dont charge a arm and leg for any vender to set up something. thats how they ran the hamfest out it just cost to much for them to sell anything.

The Early Television Museum holds its convention in early May in Columbus, OH. We have a swap meet and auction.

As a former officer of the Delaware Valley Historic Radio Club, I must beat the drum for our Kutztown, PA meets in May and Sept. Find the info at www.dvhrc.info
Our meet is now getting 150+ dealers all under cover and is the place to be either as a seller or buyer. You will go home with something. And the ETF convention Steve mentions is the place to be for all of you that have an interest in early television. There is no better meet for the collection of tv knowledge that arrives there. |
Antique Radio Classified Magazine ( http://www.antiqueradio.com/index.html ) publishes a list of radio events, including swap meets, in the US and abroad. Here's the schedule through July and August:

In Texas, we have the VRPS Vintage Radio & Phonograph Society in Dallas, as well as the AWA Antique Wireless Association in Houston. There are concerned more with radios than TV but TV is definitely included and that is the sort of thing leading to great TV finds. These clubs have monthly meetings and the VRPS always has a informal swap meet before. I believe guests are welcome free, except at the conventions, one must be a member as there are auctions a-plenty.

Don't know how many vintage TVs you might find there but there have been some in previous years when I've attended. Cliff |
These idjit hillbillies round here think "Old" is something from 1979, & "Ham Radio" is "One of them there now CB thaings, right ?!?" No, Cletus, not exactly...I will admit it is BIG jolly, DIRTY fun to tee-totally overload their 2-volt minds when I show 'em the exotica I have...
