Scored an RCA 9-PC-41A

I know an antique shop owner and he said he had an old projection tv in storage. It turned out to be in decent shape, and 99.9% complete. it has all channel knobs and back, the cabinet is scruffy but solid and is missing a support hinge for the viewing screen so it won't stay open.

The good news is the CRT tests good on my Sencore CR-70 shows OK emissions and the life test is good and the cutoff is good.
The bad news, is the spherical mirror and flat inclined mirrors need to be re-silvered and I need to find the missing hinge.

Nice. Nothing some stripper and new finish can't fix.

So was that black original finish?

Glenz75 08-22-2012 07:57 PM

Great find! The black finish looks cool

Coatings

Hi BruceL,

You can try Spectrum Coatings in FL or Clausing Optical Coatings in IL to resurface your spherical mirror. I'm guessing the price is in the $250 to $350 range by now. A standard first surface flat mirror, cut to size, can be used to replace your lid reflector. These can be salvaged from modern rear projection sets.

Good luck,

Whoa! Talk about complete, that looks like the always-missing remote sitting below the high voltage cage!

What do you think the fair market value might be on a complete (all the knobs, back, etc), unrestored unit with good cabinet and original finish? CRT condition unknown.
Thanks
Phil

Well, there was one for less than that a month or more ago with a price of $25, but the seller would not post a picture from the rear showing the chassis, etc.,
and there were NO bidders. Was any of it still there or all missing? Never saw it listed again.

I got one about 6 years ago in excellent condition, right out of a living room
where it was being used as a support stand for a Philco Predicta. Very few scratches or dings to the woodwork and no rust nor much dirt anywhere inside. Cost me $450 and a drive up to N.E. PA to drag it back home.

Cliff
