RCA 630ts Bleeder Resistor Value
I'm in the thick of an RCA 630ts restoration and I've run into a problem with the bleeder resistor network. Both of the multi-resistors in the "chimney" section are bad. I understand that this is a very common problem in these sets. I have been able to find the two section resistor (R127), but I am still on the look out for the three section resistor (R128). Looking in the schematic at R128A you can see that it's rated at 6750ohms but the power measurement is also rated in ohms. Is this simply a typo or is there something that I'm missing?

I realized that I have a Rider schematic for this set also. They list the part as 1650 ohm 3.2 watt. The Sams must just be an odd misprint.
Now to find a replacement. |
If you found an original replacement, it might be no more reliable than the resistor that burned up in your TV. Some TVs have weak spots where nearly everyone ends up replacing the same sketchy parts.
Those are oddball values, but you could make them up by combining new resistors, as a way to proceed with your restoration while seeking the ideal part. Phil Nelson Phil's Old Radios http://antiqueradio.org/index.html |
