CTC-7 mounting a FBP crt

hmmm, the anode is REAL close to support ring. No way I could use the orig anode plug (no cup) that was on the 21CYP22. I ended up using a modern anode lead with a nice soft silicone cover, but even then it popped a few times until I really cleaned it and got a good suction fit. If that eases up at all in will arc. I guess I could try some kind of goo to keep it stuck. Has anyone else had this problem with a CTC-7 style mount ring on a later CRT (than a CYP that is).

the anode is only about 1" away from that ring...

I know the CYP has two anodes but is the FBP anode closer to the face or something?

This might sound funny, but when I did it, I took a Cool Whip lid, cut it in half, and applied high voltage putty all over one half, pressed the other half onto it, and wedged the thing between the support ring and the anode connector. Worked like a charm. Don't know if high voltage putty is still available. I believe it was a general Cement product.
Good luck.

the FBP is closer to the neck than the CYP, the mount ring on the CTC-7 is pretty far back much closer to the neck than the face. It has plastic supports that space it off the bell and 4 long straps that pull it (and the CRT) tight up against the mask.
