Thinking about getting this... Fleetwood 21-41
 

As far as I can tell, looks like a Fleetwood Constellation 21-41.

For $20, not a bad deal.

Anyone have some info on this set like a service doc or such?

The seller says it was powered on and gave a quick flash before dying... hoping they meant the dial lamp lit up and went out when an internal fuse blew or so... Either way if I do go take a look I'm bringing a multimeter and ohming out the CRT and power transformer.

Is this a Fleetwood built by Conrac or is it the Canadian Fleetwood company? Apparently they are not related.

20 bux, you can prolly recoup THAT out of selling the Tubes...

No kidding, a good 21" CRT's worth that, that's a nice Collaro changer in that thing too.

Am waiting to hear back from the seller, will do my best to convince someone with a car to help me go pick it up. :D

I'll be heading out this Thursday to get it - for $20 It's no big loss if the tube is shot, it still makes a nice display piece and worst case I'll do something "reversible" with it or find another home... but that's for later, too many what-ifs right now.

Will post pictures in a new thread once I get it, keep your eyes peeled for the restoration!

It's gonna be interesting as I'll be armed with a DMM, a variac, and very little else, though I can source a scope for alignment. :D

Are you driving a Fleetwood there to pick it up?

A scope alone is only good for checking waveforms, and adjusting synchroguide based horizontal oscillator circuits, buut...Without a good sweep generator you should not touch the alignment(except for the audio only stages).

Definitely agree with you on that point. I've watched all of bandersen's youtube stuff, so I know what I'm getting into without any of that gear. I know where I can probably source some more of the required gear if needed, but I don't know for sure. In any case, I'm not touching it unless I know I can do it right.

You would certainly need a good sized car! That set is nice looking. Hopefully you will be able to get something in there working.

Is that shortwave on the upper radio band?

Certainly looks like it.

Car wise it _should_ fit per the dimensions in that ad, it's a hatchback in which the rear seats can be folded down for space... but theory might collide with reality in ~2 hours though :D

IT IS MINE! We _barely_ fit it into a mazda3 hatchback, and it was definitely a challenge. Ended up pulling the TV chassis so we could lift it.

I know what a car PACKED full of vintage electronics looks like from all the swap meets I've attended with a couple of c-notes and the family Honda CR-V(both the new one and the old one that got totaled)...There have been a few times where I dragged two consoles at once home in that thing(usually along with a bunch of tube radios and other gear for padding not to mention the folks up front and me in the back seat swimming in gear).

The CR-V is one of the best SUVs IMHO for this kind of hobby...big enough for most large consoles(or two smaller ones :D), some gear, and passengers, yet not a freakin' boat to drive and with fairly good MPG.
