color crt test jig
 

for a long time iv been wanting to build a test jig for mainly color sets ,i have big enough benchs where i could set the chassie on and crt [ in a mounted encloser ] and do most of the work before i put everything back in the cabinet. what im looking for is there a rectangler crt [ tube # ] that i can use a adapters and yoke that is compatiple with the 21fjp22 type crt. or even a crt chart with adapter # and setups , iv seen these test jigs in old test equitment books if anyone has any paper work that might have been supplied with one of these jig set ups . i have 3 vary good rect. crt from 1970 and late 60s i would like to use one of these crt for most type of chassie im working on ,if anyone has any info i would apprciate it. thanks

Check your area for any old TV shops. They are no longer used
so you can find them for next to nothing. We tossed 2 of them,
an RCA & a Sylvania. The Syl. had almost every yoke cable
they made. Dont worry abt convergence cables, not needed.
Will run both Roundies & squares. If you have to pay for it
check it real well, they were very troublesome.

is there any particlure crt number type rectangle tube that worked good as a roundie sub. iv found some adapters on ebay that go from roundie crt to rect crt do they have inturnal droping resiters, i see in some books voltages are less for rect crts.

I think they used high lead glass, also could take 35KV safely.
I dont think the CRT adapter was anything special, pretty sure
we replaced it once with a plain adapter. You could make a crude
jig with a early SS set with a 30kv tube. Just use the
ends of the yoke windings. Size may be way off so if you are
working on a size prob. mark the screen & look for the change
you want. Also be sure you are not stressing anything. If you
do a SS set be EXTRA careful !!

Another thing we often did was use a big rectangle roll cart.
Straddle the set so there is a few feet behind it for the chassis.
Make or buy extenders, remember you only need CRT, yoke,
HV & a damn good ground. We also had two other carts with a
scope, analyst & power-rites. Made for very easy & fast repairs..........

I have a jig that uses a standard looking 18v delta crt like a CTC-53 or something like that. I'd like to find a home for it but really, really don't want to ship it. I had a roundie jig once and I remember reading in its instructions that using it with an rectangular chassis would cause ringing in the picture but otherwise no problem.

i got a crt data chart off ebay a few days ago so i hope that i can find operating voltage for a few crt's i have ,i think 25vaep22 might work ok for test jig tube ,at least for few chassie's it will cover like late 60's early 70's types.
