Zenith Advanced System 3

Well.. I think it's an Advanced System 3.
I saw this in the free section on our local CL. I emailed, and we shall see, altho I swear I'm never going to bring one more console in the house.
I'm not overly familiar with Zenith after 1985. Is this of the era when Zenith started going to hell, or not a bad set?

That one is from the early-to-mid '90's; and, unfortunately, is from the bad era and you'd be better off leaving it where it sits. Back in the late '90's-early 2000's, I was getting the rejects from the local Zenith shop and I got several of those consoles, all with bad CRT's.

Thanks! I will leave that one be. My Uncle got out of Zenith sales right at the point they were going bad, so I wasn't aware that this one was of the bad tube ones.
I may just try and get that Sylvania Superset that's been listed awhile instead.

The Sylvania will stand a chance of being a better TV. The "superset" badge was first used on GTE models of the late '70's and continued to be used by NAP until the early '90's.

If you don't have one, and are only ever getting one more console then I recommend you track down a Zenith color roundy.

A few years back when I asked my mentor, a retired TV repairman, what he recommended as the best tube color set he told me the earlier Zenith roundys were the most reliable best preforming sets out there....Now that I have one I'm really starting to see why.
