Transporting a Predicta Pedestal
 

I have the oppurtunity to buy one of these. It is about an hour away from where my brother lives so he would be picking it up for me. He has a 2005 Mercury Montego. It is a midsize car. Do you think he will have any problem getting it into the back seat? Can someone that has one give me the overall measurements?

CRT is about 2 feet wide and the whole set a little over 3 feet tall. It should fit lying face down across both seats.

I carried mine home in a 1994 Mercury Sable, if I remember right.

46 tall, 17 deep, 23 wide. If you measure the car, make sure you have enough room between the door armrests. I transport these face down in a bed of pillows and old comforters. Make sure there is plenty of packing to keep the TV on the seat and prevent it from flying forward, damaging the TV and the upholstery. The boomerang shaped front foot can make it difficult to position the set securely on it's own.

The head can be removed fairly easily, everything unplugs.
The hardest part is unplugging the HV lead from inside the Flyback cage, you have to be real careful not to damage the Flyback by bumping into it, they are brittle at this age.

Loosen the lock bolt at the back of the collar and the head lifts right off and the wiring feeds through the hole, a two person job really to guide the wires through.
