A-HA! I recognize that... Setting up in the Nevada desert for the nuclear bomb test in the 50s. First microwave relay in field news! I've personally handled and moved that big dish sitting on the ground. They specially made it for that event, and it's sitting underneath Stage 3 at the KTLA lot, to this day, as far as I know.

The 1952 Nevada test shot was also one of the longest ad-hoc multi hop haul of its era. It was a testament of the sheer determination and energy of Klaus Landsberg.

I remember seeing vans like that a LOT back when I was a kid...

Cool photo. KTLA had a lot of "firsts" back in the day. I had the pleasure of meeting Stan Chambers in the 90's. He was surprised that I wanted to talk to him. Very Very nice man!
