As much as it would clash with my decor (mid century trailer park) I would love to have that set.
Space is critical also so it's good that it's too far away from me.

that's a beautiful TV. I notice S/C paid close attention to cabinetry on their radios and TVs. At one time I was in possession of a 1939 S/C shortwave radio in a tall cabinet and the woodworking was impressive.

Made in USA, I'm sure...:scratch2:

Wow, have times changed. Nowadays it's "American" style TVs made in China.

I have that same TV with the green doors... a great performing set.

A year or two ago, I saw a box at a hobby store marked "Chinese Junk". (It is a ship/boat model.) You guessed it: Made in USA. :)

That Stromberg is a very nice set. I have a Magnavox remote-control color roundie in a Chinese-style cabinet, but it is not nearly THAT Chinese.

Here's another one on the West coast:

This one's smaller, without the phono. Price is a little steep, but . . . .

Now that's one NICE looking set! I meant the original posting. Couldn't see the one that Phil posted on Craigslist as the ad has expired. This is right up there with the DuMonts of the era, but I don't think as much is known about them. I don't think that the electronics were quite as extravagant as DuMont, but I could watch either one working or not...

I had a couple that were a little newer. Electronics are straightforward. Good set. Someone should snap it up.

Stromberg-Carlson is one of those names that instantly makes you think of quality whether a radio or a TV.

John Folsom 08-25-2013 05:57 PM

Danny, if you would post your model and TV chassis number, likely someone here can help with a schematic.
