Not for $80, even if for both.

My 19" Samsung cost like $20 if I remember.

Only if you really like them, I see about $25 worth there.

Robb 08-20-2013 07:23 PM

Thanks

No, not worth it IMHO. I think $25 would be a generous price. I don't know what it is; but, it seems like that when someone finds a TV in a colored plastic case, they think it's worth a fortune.

Anyone remember 'ol Sparky that I posted several months back? :P

Because in this day of age, people are God damn greedy !
They dream money instead of thinking logically !

Well, he'll likely be finding out that his price is too high when he still has the TV's 5 years from now.

Currently, there is a orange/yellow 13" Toshiba color set from the mid-late '70's at the flea market and the guy wants $75 for it. It's been there for months and it will likely be there for a few more months. Around here, he'd be lucky to get $10 for the set.

At another flea market, there is a white 13" Teknika color set from around '76 and the 80 year old woman who owns it thinks it's worth $75 and won't budge on the price.

In this hobby, it's a given that we're going to run into flakes who think their stuff is worth a fortune and all we can do is walk away. I know it can be irritating when someone has something you'd like to have; but, they want too much money for it. However, no need in getting mad. They'll either lower the price or keep the set.

Yup, some guy tried to soak me recently on an '88 XL-100. I told him to enjoy the buck fifty he gets in scrap value.

I think the internet and all of the "very informative" TV shows has a lot to do with it. Those shows on TV feature "know it all" dealers who portray anything old to be worth a fortune. I just tell them that if it's worth that much on "American Pickers"; then, they had better get in touch with them and sell it to them.

Those little colorful sets were popular for a while but i think the Digital changeover killed off a lot of the interest. Not many people want to deal with the hassle of setting up a converter box for a small kitchen set.

This cat should learn not to burn bridges.
The 9" Zenith is a nice set but probably the most common
of its era. The Toshiba is a pissah color & rare but still
not worth much IMHO.
