Later Capehart-branded sets

I know that this name was used well into the solid-state era, but who built them and when?

The ones I saw from the '80's were rebadged AOC (Admiral Overseas Corp.) and were fairly junky. By the late '60's, Capehart had pretty much turned into a junk brand who's products were rebadged foreign crap by whoever would build it the cheapest. And, let's not talk about their '70's console stereo's - they make Lloyd's, Soundesign, and Electrophonic look like hgh end products.

Yikes, I had better avoid that NOS infrared remote then.

They sold rebadged Zeniths for a while in the 80's. I think
that was the first time Zenith did it. Was a sign of trouble to me.
Next thing that they bad was let the Chinese use there name
on some crappy radios. Everyone thought they were Zeniths,
a few came in for "warranty work". They were really pissed off
when they found out what Zenith pulled & they couldnt get
them fixed.......

I remember Capehart and DuMont-branded Sharp sets sold at K-Mart in the early 80s...

Sharp, huh? Well, that's a good name, or at least it was.

looked at an 80's vintage Capehart at an estate sale today
a really nice looking set for what it is
was more impressed with the 70's vintage Gustdorf rolling stand it was resting on
might have to talk myself into stopping and getting that cart/stand tomorrow
i have a Zenith CC2 that really needs a proper cart

i did pick up an old GoldStar ac/dc VCP at the sale ... hard to pass up at 4$ and it will look good sitting atop the GoldStar 19" set i have from the same era
