Well a bit of good news on the Avanti
 

I replaced the seized convergence coil and the pot making the clicking sound. I then used a grid pattern from a test DVD instead of the generator (more lines). After about 10 minutes, I managed to get the following. It's not perfect (almost as good as my other CCII), but I can definitely live with it.

Thanks to all for your support on this issue. If I can get rid of the jail bars, I'll be set (I can live with the moire for the most part).
