Restoration
2 Attachment(s)
I had an opportunity to display some old sets at a ladies event at Lifechurch Wellington Florida. The theme was of course people restoration but the decor was very retro and served as a reminder that what is percieved as old and over can have new purpose. These got a lot of ohs and ahs. Many were further astounded that these slightly less than ancient things worked! I hope we all take the opportunity to display our treasures to a new crowd now and then. This kind of thing can spark new interest in the hobby. The Philco radio and RCA in front is as found not restored.

Nice! I've got to find another church one of these days, and lobby for a similar opportunity. I would also need someone with a truck to lend a hand. Unfortunately my little RCA ColorTrak portable (circa 1980) got zero attention from what I could tell on its way home today, even during a stop at Starbucks where I put it right on my table in plain view. Come to think of it, perhaps it would have gotten more attention had it been clean. I'm well into that process now. Looked like it had been sitting in the seller's garage for, like, ever.

I Googled your Church, it's much like mine. That's a good idea, I really have to talk to Pastor Mike about something like that :)

Our church once a year in November has what they call Hobby Night. It's open to the public and they use it as a fundraiser for the food pantry. They set up tables around the gym and people set up displays for their hobbies. Last year I had a display of vintage railroad stuff that I collect. I haven't displayed radios yet, might next year. It's amazing what people collect!
