Looks to be somewhat high-end. Could be a Majestic or one of the last Atwater Kents.

After doing some looking around, from the dial and knobs it does look to be a Atwater Kent set from C. 1934.

I believe that is an RCA. I think someone here has one with the legs sawed off.

Yes it's a Model 222 RCA from 1935.

Nice looking set. You can see the antenna wire going out the window just behind Dizzy's right hand, behind the chair. Wonderfully amazing that such simple circuits(compared to today's gear), a bunch of tubes, & a length of copper wire could bring you the world. Great stuff!

Yep, a 222. I'm the guy with the amputee victim :( Even so, it's a pretty radio I think.

I definitely plan to add legs, but I need to find someone with woodworking skills first. I just don't have the equipment or knowledge.

At any rate, that doesn't look too difficult for a woodworker to recreate.

That set is truly an "Art Deco" design. Styling way ahead of it's time. :thmbsp:

OK - I see what you mean. I have come across alot of stretcher bases that are bolted on. What you could do is keep your eyes open in a thrift store for an old coffee table or something and set it on that. Try to match up the size and legs. Or just use the legs. Drill a hole in the leg - shove a steel rod in there - drill a hole in the cabinet and glue the whole mess in. Stain or Laquer to match. Use the stetcher for additional support underneath. Maybe use the back of an old wooden chair for the oval. Just don't move it around once it is assembled. Or get as many pictures of the base as you can and talk to a furniture restorer if you really want make it nice. Experiment. Have nothing to lose. It would look 100 percent better anfd you would probably fool alot of people.

Might make a few bucks selling it to a baseball guy.

Also, what does Dizzy have on has radio? It looks like a little doily with a Buddha statue on it. Also, it looks like he has little figures on his shelf next to the radio?:scratch2:
