Nice workshops.
I'll have to clean up mine and take a few photos to share. Too much crap, too little space:-) BTW Walterbeers, what do you use those portable lamps for? Do they work well with TV work? I have some just like those stored away. Carl |
Great setup! You've learned the secret I discovered last year.....you can't work on TVs when you have no space to spread out. My setup isn't as nice and spacious as yours, but I can easily have three sets apart simultaneously without creating a huge mess.
Once upon a time, I had TVs stacked like cord wood and never had the space or time to really tear any of them apart and do the work. Nicely done! :) |
Nice setup. I like the idea of the shop lamps. May need to hit home depot next weekend! My shop isn't anywhere near that clean when I'm working on a set. Seems like I have stuff scattered everywhere.

The shop lamps work great when I'm doing work on chassis like replacing caps, resistors, etc. I set it behind me kinda off to the side, and focus it onto unit I'm working on. It also works great work when working on cars, etc. (Those lights get awful hot though). I also cherish my CTC9. Great set with original CRT, and works great. CTC9 has a little problem with vertical stability though, meaning I have to tweak the hold control as it warms up occasionally. I also have a posting about it under vintage color. Need to put more info and picture of it working on there. PS the Predicta shown on the big screen isn't mine though, however wish I could find one I could afford that I could restore.

My Cat

Only 1 Cat! (La La) and yes, she has claws, which I clip from time to time. The cat actually belongs to my son, however she doesn't get along with his other cat, so we (inherited her).

I really don't have all that much room for my old TVs, but true I can't work in a cluttered mess. Wife says I should sell some of them before I pick more up, But I don't want to part with my old relics since I put so much time into them. The area with my benches is where I used to repair TVs etc. for an income which I gave up about 15 years ago, when everything went to throw away foreign junk. Some of the sets I had in my posession years ago, I could kick myself for getting rid of them. I remember (many years ago) junking an old CTC5, with a necked CRT, and giving a CTC11 away to the goodwill trailer, that had a weak tube. Also junked several porta colors, and lots of other tube sets as well, never realizing that people would want them as collector items today. However back in the days, I used to sell color roundies that I repaired for $200 or more. Gosh, times have changed!
