Mint Magnavox Astro-Sonic

Picked this up today from craigslist. Replaced 8 electrolytic caps in the amp, cleaned the controls, and a little cleaning and lube on the record changer and it works like new again. This is one of the best sounding Magnavox consoles I have heard in a while.

It had all the original paperwork with it, including the shipping tags, warranty certificate, record changer initial instructions, and showroom advertising pieces. It was bought directly from the Greeneville, TN factory and shipped a short drive to Loudon, TN on 12/23/64. When I took the back off, it was evident that nobody had ever been in it before.

There was a little distortion in the radio that wasn't there when listening to an album, so I decided to pull the tuner chassis and replace the electrolytics (all 19 of them). It really didn't make a difference.

The distortion is just on FM, and is more noticeable on the stronger, local stations. When tuning into a weak station, I can just barely detect any distortion at all.

If anyone would happen to have a diagram for Magnavox Chassis R2080100, I would sure appreciate getting a copy scanned to me :)
