"60 Philco Model 10L31
I just brought this set out of storage about 3 weeks ago and since it's complete and in good cosmetic condition, I'm gonna see if I can get it going. This TV is one of the sets I got from a good friend (former landlord and employer whom I still work for part time). This is from the "Mother Lode" of sets I received from him (and am still picking up and bringing home!), some 200 sets, give or take a few. The set had been stored in a barn since 1965. Anyway, the set in question is totally dead when powered up on my variac. Any suggestions?

Oops - I posted this in the wrong forum. Could one of the mods please move this to the appropriate forum? Thanks in advance.

Yes , please just go away with your round picture tube and lamps, we don't like this over here!
Just kidding, looking foward for some pictures of your set ;) |
If none of the tubes are lighting, it likely has a blown thermistor in the series tube filament circuit. Probably has a dead fusistor in the B+ supply as well.

Oops, ignore that earlier comment. The 10L31 has a power transformer :o So make sure you've got AC power making is way to the primary. Philco used some crummy power switches back then and it may be bad.
Also, there is a fuse (really just a piece of #26 wire) in the tube filament supply hat may be open. |
