Wanted: audio tubes & tube tester
 

I have several tube amps and would like to buy a tester so I don't have to keep trying them out in the equipment to see if they're any good. I could also use some US made 12ax7's, 12at7's, GZ34 rectifier tube, 6L6's. Hope to hear back from you.

I have an EICO tube tester I don't use. I live in Los Angeles so freight may be high.

Where are you located? I have a 1947 Hickok that is nice with mutual conductance capability, which is basically a lost art. It is pretty big and heavy. Hickok made some really great equipment.

A tube tester is good for checking that the heaters are still intact, although you can do that with a DVM and a tube basing chart (on the internet). Testers can also test for shorts and basic emission, but still the best test for any tube is in the equipment in which it is designed to serve. Sometimes a tube that tests bad or marginal in a tube tester will work fine in a device.

And vice-versa.
The tubes you desire are getting to get REALLY expensive.
Surely due to the demand. Seems like prices for tubes for tube audio equipment have gone thru the roof the last couple of years, yet you can buy NOS 80 year old tubes reasonably.
