short picture?
 

I have a 1991 20" Sharp Linytron model 19RP519. Its got sentimental value even if its not rare or even that great a set. Any suggestions to get rid of that line at the top of the picture?

Look for a vertical size or "V-size" control inside the TV. Slightly adjust this control and that should take care of the problem. While you have the back off, you might want to check/replace the capacitors in the vertical circuit, as I'm sure one (or more) have started to fail.

Thanks guys. I'll get the back off this weekend. As for questionable capacitors, I'm sure there's a few. Its a virgin set and hasn't been opened up since it left the factory.

I have that same set. Just got it a few months ago. I love it.

I got the back off it yesterday and had a look inside for the vert size adjustment and got rid of the line at the top and tweaked the focus a bit. Picture looks like new now.

Tim- do you have a remote for yours? My remote still exists, I just can't find it. I saw it in my parents house within the past couple months.

If it were mine, and I planned on keeping it, I'd follow radiotvnut's advice and replace all the electrolytic's in the vertical circuit. $5 worth of capacitors could save you from replacing the vertical output IC sometime down the road.

I do plan on ordering some fresh electrolytics for it. I have a GE portable (14T007) project I'm slowly working on that I need some high voltage caps for so once I get that opened back up to refresh my memory I will order all at the same time.
I've always believed in preventative maintenance, probably from al the years I spent working in a mechanic shop.
