Found this on Craigslist and ended up bringing it home with me.
It has some water damage. This will need a complete restoration.

Wow, talk about something different! I will certainly be interested in hearing about this restoration.

I would ignore the cabinet for now (well, maybe blow off the dust). To me, the electronic work is more fun than refinishing, and I find that having a working TV motivates me to complete the cabinet.

Great score! It'll look nice restored. The insides are in really good shape in spite of the outside. If the CRT and lenses are good then I'd say you made out like a bandit!

I will probably refinish the cabinet first. I was told that I had to do that first.

Only projection TV I've seen with a 6S8 sound detector. Emerson must have been trying to use up old stock...

The chassis appears to be similar to one used on an earlier 10" console, except for the added metal plate (where the 10BP4 nestled) that interfaces to the projection unit. The earlier 10" set had a strange power supply with about 5 25Z6s and a ton of electrolytics. Looks like some of the holes for the 25Z6s are still there on your chassis.

Update: Found the Sams (#46-folder #25) for the earlier 10" set: Model 606 (console) and there *was* a table model (model 571). Indeed it used a 6S8 and 5 25Z6s.

I actually have the 571, somewhere in storage. I think it had two Selenium stacks, but I remember a sea of holes where the 25Z6s went. I was quite surprised seeing the Sams showing them installed!

There seems little unknown liquid damage on either the speaker or the back panel. The pattern of the spill (dark rim) suggests a solvent spill and not a water issue.

If it were me, I'd test a chemical striper (in a spot that does not show) before trying sanding. If you can remove it down to an even color, it should be easy to replicate the original finish without excessive work.

Cool set, good for you! Looks like a lot of work, but well worth it in my book. How many people have one? Not many.

Nice! How many different sets use the Philips Protelgram system? I've seen this setup in a few different makes of set.
