Small projector

Anyone have experience with small, short throw video projectors? What I'm thinking of doing, is hiding a modern video projector inside the back of an old UHF tuner, Set it on top of my vintage B&W set, and aim it at the wall set. For the times I really want to watch in color. The hard part is finding a projector that is small enough, and figuring out how to adapt the IR remote sensor to work in the new enclosure. I dont need a real big image on the wall. Most of the ones ive seen are little more than toys with only 50 lumens, or they are fairly large. I dont really need true HD.

I used one for a couple of years, as shown on this post in one of the "Supurb owl" threads:

The DLP projector developed a large number of missing pixels over time, so I junked it and replaced it with a 24" LCD, which is much brighter and much higher resolution (and cheaper than the projector). I still use a very tiny pico projector in the bedroom (nice, because it is quite dim) but it is also now missing a number of pixels. Bummer! Not recommended!

Edit add: old thread and pix of the Pico:

This is the projector that was used in my "computer room":
