Flat 300 ohm Antenna Wire

Does anyone out there still hook up there old favorite Tv Set with a piece of flatwire instead of the modern 75 ohm coax cable? I have tried wiring my to the terminal screws on the back of the set as well as using the old-fashioned wire connector(clothespin like clip)

If it's not usually done, I'm game. My newest TV (1988 Zenith model SE5535G console) does not have screw terminals, but the original owners modded it with a knife switch fitted with the antenna wire you speak of, and a 300-75 ohm matching transformer at the other end. I'm leaving it there as part of the set's history, and perhaps to use as a device signal switch. I was told that the set was never hooked to cable; perhaps the original owners had indoor and roof antennas.
