Philco 1986 Console TV
Does anyone have a picture of what a 1986 Philco Console TV looked like? I am curious to see if it at all looked like my 1986 RCA Console TV. I have a friend whose folks had one and used it up until last Fall when they were told it couldn't be fixed anymore. They said something about it only had a picture on the CRT part of the time or something like that. I wonder if it couldn't have just been a bad solder or something from years of use caused by the heating up of the parts and etc.? :scratch2:

It was most likely fixable. "It can no longer be fixed" is the standard answer from technicians who don't want to work on them. Find a picture of a Magnavox or Sylvania from the same time period and the Philco will be similar (all 3 brands were owned by NAP during that era and had the same chassis).

Thanks for the information. I kinda thought the same thing on the fact it could have been fixed. Too bad cause they had to get a Flatscreen which they didn't really want.
Ifound some pictures of Magnavox's and Sylvania's from 1986. Did these sets have a good quality picture or not? How would they compare to my RCA from 1986? Enjoy your posts. |
From what I remember of them, they had decent pictures that were up to par with RCA.

Yes indeed NAP did own those 3 brands they were great shasis but had weak tuners a chip would go out in them easy ti fix. I sold the brand during this time frame.

I think I remember that tuner. It was used in the G-line sets, and some others, from the late '80's-early '90's.
