Is there ANYTHING special about this tv (looks like a KCS 47 or so).
 

Take a gander at this Ebay post. This looks like an ordinary RCA set from maybe 48-50, a KCS 47, 49 maybe a KCS 34 or so. Not that hard to find--I have a couple of them. This one looks to have a round tube, likely metal. Again, I have at least 2 like it, one is a table model.

But WHAT--in heavens name makes it worth an amount approaching a CT-100?

looks more like a 1950 model, I can sell you a 1950 model without doors, for a lot less :) Mine has a metal cone 16" tube. chassis and knobs looks very similar.

I suspect that what makes it worth $5,000.00 is that its cabinet can defy gravity. Even the doors appear to be able to do so!

Darn, if I could get some of my TV sets to stay halfway up walls, I would have less of a storage problem. :)

the boob can't use a camera, or maybe there really stuck to the wall who knows now days. might be a new retro look steam-punk or what ever it is now.

I think the best part of the whole deal is this is the seller's first eBay transaction ever. ISTR there was a time when you couldn't just create an eBay account and list a $5k item right off the bat.

Looks like a 19-incher, 19AP4.

Username1 needs to get on this set! If it has anti-gravity built in it might just have time travel built in as well :deal:...Though time travel in and of it's self is not very useful without high-speed space travel as odds are if you go back a decade the earth is not going to be in the same place it is right now. Of course even without space travel one might be able to time travel and land on earth if the earth's motion to whatever universal reference the machine is referenced to is cyclical. Then you would just have to choose which cycle is closest prior to the time you want to visit, and hope the cycle is short enough that you will live long enough to visit the point in time you wish to see...

Must be a teen or 20 something that found the set in granny's basement. Figures a TV that is 65 years old is the holy grail. Giving the guy points for chutzpah.

The only special thing there is the grade of whatever the seller's smoking, must be primo stuff.

It's in nice shape but it's a fairly common set from the biggest selling brand of the day.

I'm guessing it's a 16". possibly a 16AP4 CRT? Maybe too short for a 16AP4, 16GP4 maybe or some other glass CRT.

I have that exact same set in my collection. It is a 19". I got mine at an estate sale in Milwaukee from the original owner. Paid $27, and it's in mint condition. It was still in the corner of the living room with a flower vase and crochet doily on top of the set. I think the little old lady dusted and polished the set once a month even though it did not work any longer. So the set on ebay is worth $27 in my estimation.
