Wanting to know what year and model this RCA TV is?
 

Hello, I was browsing my local free classifieds section today and came across this old 26" Console RCA TV, it looks to be from the late 70's. Im sure someone can pinpoint a date and what model it is :) I'm curious to know as well if it would be worth picking up or not.

Wow, that one is cool! Even though I'm not a RCA fan in general because I prefer more obscure makes, I would jump on one of these.

My guess would be early 70s, considering the channel indicator. I think most if not all of RCA's remote tuners had gone LED by the mid-70s.

The white cabinet and the control panel style says late 70's to me, 78-79? but that's just a guess.
I'd also guess it's actually a 25" set, they used to measure to the edge of the tube but laws were passed and they had to start going by viewable area, at least here in the U.S.

I've never seen one before, how far up north are you, Canada?

This one is tough. It is probably mid 70's. Maybe one of the RCA
experts will pipe in. Best way to tell is by chassis number will
be CTC-???. Also by then most sets had dates on the back tag.
I would grab the set. I have never seen one & modern wasnt
a big seller then. Be sure to get the origonal hand unit if they
still have it.

this might be the upright chassis,delta gun set.tuner layout looks like it.very,very reliable,great performer with excellent crts.one of the last good sets before they went to the inline crt

If I was to venture a guess, I'd say '73 to '76. That's when "white plastic" was king.
Tables, GE stereos, Advent speakers and table radios were available in white plastic then.

MAY be a CTC-81 the upright "fold out" chassis--the ONLY one (other than the CTC-74 19" version of the SAME chassis)-- only chassis by RCA that uses a VRT power transformer.

The VERY next chassis, the CTC-85/86..and ALL that followed (until the CTC-131 with an SMPS) were HOT chassis.

Wernt they calling the -74 & -81 colortracs ?? Thats why I am torn.
Set says XL100 so one thinks the older upright BUT the styling looks
newer. Of course XL100 labels kept popping up for years.

It says ColorTrak as well. Perhaps you expected the phrase solid state to appear next to XL-100.

I'm betting this is going to have something like a CTC89 from the '77-'78 time period. I think the tuner is a motorized varactor tuning system with an ultra-sonic remote.

Makes sense now. I hadnt seen the colortrac, need glasses I guess.
So at this point I will guess either the brutish tilt down chassis or
the short lived modular flat chassis.

I think the Modular chassis was made between '77 and '80. The first round was a CTC8x and the second round was a CTC9x.

So, did you get this set?

Who knows what will pop up here. I liked this RCA enough to grab what I believe is the correct hand unit. I wasn't going to bother with it at first.
