Johnny Carson's CTC-4
1 Attachment(s)
Was watching a documentary about Carson on Netflix tonight and it had this photo of him sitting next to a Blond or Limed Oak CTC-4.
This show features quite a few older sets including, I think, a Sony 1210U, a large 70's Sony console and a 10" GE color portable from the 80's, all working and using real off the screen images. |
That is a Blond CTC-4 Seville. I've got the same model minus the (apparently) removable legs waiting for me to finish the resto I started on it.

Somebody here should know for sure, but I think that there was a model sold without the attached legs and surround piece at the bottom. I remember seeing a bunch of CTC4s in the 70s during my "poor starving young engineer" days. Several of us kept these sets going well past their "useful lifetime" to provide cheap color viewing. Unfortunately, when it was time to move on (most of us ended up with Trinitrons), I scrapped out a Hallicrafters version of the console, but kept the RCA which I have to this day.

Johnny sat next to a lot of other blonds, too.
