Stromberg-Carlson Model 62 schematic?
 

Hey guys -
I just picked up one of these sets, and I'm looking for a decent schematic for it. It's basement fresh, I haven't even tried to run it yet (the power cord is dangerous), but I can tell it'll need some work.

I can't find a good clean copy of the schematic online anywhere. Also need alignment instructions, since I bet that's drifted in the last 75 years!

It's SC part # P-25687....

Could convert it to a PM speaker if you can't repair or find a replacement.
What size speaker?

It looks like it's 8 or 10 inch. The field coil is part of the filter circuit, though. I'd honestly like to replace it with the same speaker, but SC stuff is rare enough as it is...

I like to keep speakers original but its not as cheap.
I have had three Philco speakers reconed w/voice coil by Sound Remedy in Southern NJ with great results.

I'm thinking of a recone, but I don't know how standard/nonstandard the VC is on this ting, plus there's the question of how it blew in the first place (shorted ouput xfmr?). and, it's got one of them heavy, beaver leather surround cones.

This can't be the only Stromberg-Carlson from the 30's in existence, and I'm sure sooner or later a junker will turn up. Maybe... Hopefully...

I've got a SC speaker similar to what you describe with IIRC a seized voice coil, and bad leather.

Whats shot? The cone or the vc?

The VC is shot :( I don't know how to rewind it - the former deteriorated, too. My bigger worry is why it blew up - could there be an output transformer fault putting HV on it?

Anyway, I can hold out a while fora replacement speaker, putting a PM one in there just sounds like it'll be a headache, though I guess I can do it in a way that's reversible if I ever find the right speaker.

I've re-coned them before, but with good voice coils. There are kits out there to rebuild them.

Oh wow - you *can* recone this thing? Any pointers on where to look for a cone and all?

I usually find cones on ebay. You have to measure dia. and height.
Voicecoils have to be measured by O.D.
Just recently I could not find a suitable cone for a radio I was working on. Ended up making my own out of black construction paper.
