RCA Victor functioning again

Despite my best efforts to fry the transformer this radio is playing again (this radio is discussed in a thread below). Repairs to the speaker cone and surround went well. Only one resistor was open. The rest were very close to spec. Stuffed the old cans were I could. I have a replacement dial from radio daze. The bulb looks original and I almost hate using it and am tempted to preserve it.

Always thout those victor sets were cool. Unique design, really comes across as something designed by people used to designing record changers.

I've had one of these Victor radios for about 40 years. It worked when I got it, but I think I had to replace a 45 along the way. It was one of the first radios in my collection and it also needs a dial face, so thanks for the info on that.

Mine had a burned out bulb and I just used a white 9-watt outdoor Christmas light. You could use a clear one for less heat but it might not light the dial evenly. It takes intermediate base 120V lamps, which are between candleabra and regular light bulbs.

Yes the design is unique. It's probably the oldest working radio in my collection. A very heavy old beast too.

C9 bulbs?

What is the model number of that Radio, I think I saw one on ebay for a very reasonable price.

BTW- before series (miniature) Christmas lamps, but after C-7 lamps, there were these - normally used outdoors http://www.christmaslightsetc.com/C7...OQ%3d%3d):1002

R-32 is the model.
I have the cabinet ready for a new coat of varnish and the cloth replaced. Can't wait to see our back together.
Does anyone know what kind of phono plugs these used? Not sure what kind of player I'd hook up to this.

BTW, I found a 10 c9 bulb today at Menards. Same shape as the original. I will probably store the original away in the cabinet.
