Dumont found at recycling center

My buddy found this at a recycling center. Anyone recognize the model ?

Unfortunately it's been necked :( He'll try to salvage what he can.

Looks like some sort of "clone" to me--maybe a CTC-15 clone.

too bad about the tube--fair chance it WAS good--till broken.

But I would NOT allow it to back to the landfill...it DOES have potential. any good 21FJP22 should work for that tube. All other tubes easy to get...

Not the most common brand either. Cabinet not great--but savable.

A keeper in my opinion.

Perhaps post-1958 and Emerson made?

That is a mid 60s look and color chassis design. Shame about that tube! Great scaley grille cloth.

Definitely worth saving!

Well it's sitting in my garage now. If someone wants it I can hold it a couple weeks. Otherwise, I'll part it out.

Here are some more photos.

I do not have the missing trim or back.

Someone plucked all the tubes and a capacitor got knock over.

Friend of mine has a Dumont roundie combo with a busted tuner. If you do end up parting it out, please keep me in mind for that :)

It's a CTC12 chassis. See the socket for the 1V2!
It's an RCA sourced chassis. Made before, RCA licensed the design to others.

Tubejunke 06-04-2015 01:56 AM

Yep & all that blasted PC board say RCA. I wonder if Zenith ever had to farm out their superior point to point wired chassis to other companies? I see a lot of RCA chassis in other brands, but not Zenith....

hi_volt 06-04-2015 07:47 AM

Man, it would really be a shame to part that set out. :sigh:

Very nice contemporary cabinet and a hard to find brand. Would love to see it restored.

Interesting! So most (if not all) of the early RCA clones were produced in the RCA factory. Was this only the chassis, or did RCA build the entire set? I have read that by this point in time (after 1958) the DuMont brand (at least for TV sets) was owned by Emerson, so I wonder where the set was assembled; Emerson factory?, RCA factory?, or perhaps Emerson acquired the DuMont factory and continued production there? :scratch2:
Perhaps some interesting history in this beat-up old set!

I hate the idea of it being parted out too....If NOBODY else steps up to save it, and it is free or very cheap, then I might just step up and try to make it whole again....I don't really have room or permission for more big stuff, but I don't want to see it parted.

bandersen 06-04-2015 04:20 PM

No room in my apartment or storage space for something this big. No way to transport it either as it won't fit in my car. Not sure how long I can keep it before my landlord complains.

snelson903 06-04-2015 04:32 PM

iv got room for it, just no time to drive to Chicago.
