Motorola T5 Radio power transformer
 

My Motorola T5 radio fried the power transformer, specs say 315-315v filament 6.0v rectifier 4.75v what would be the best options for a replacement?

I have been checking out power transformers, someone have idea of how much tolerance I can safely be over or under on voltages 10 or 20% ? This set calls for 315/315v 6.0v filament and 4.75v rectifier.

Most rectifier tubes have 5 volt fils, so most transformers will be speced for a 5 volt winding, anything within 10 % is probably fine,(better lower than higher) sometimes you can swap rectifier tubes to get the final Bplus voltage closer to spec. Different rectifiers have differing voltage drops under load.

Current rating can matter. You want the heater windings to be able to supply the full load of the tubes they will drive.....Also if you can rig a temporary heater and B+ supply out of parts on hand measuring B+ current would probably be good.

If you try to pull more current than it is rated for you'll heat up your replacement and shorten it's life....
