Desirability and values are all over the place nowadays for vintage TV's, so it seems. The Philco 48-1001 was one of the first vintage TV's I ever saw as a kid and I couldn't believe the technology went that far back. It's a beast for sure, but I still want a nice one to this day. They actually don't turn-up very often these days.

I sold a blond 8TS30 with a front veneer chunk missing for $15.
That Crosley clone was mine and sold for $25.
The 721 was mine also (strong CRT) and I took it home.
I sold a GE locomotive with a CRT that tested like new for $60.
These are the best prices I could get.

The market is dead.

RIP TV collecting.

Do you happen to know the model number of the 10" Farnsworth set? The only 10" Farnsworths that I'm familiar with date from 1947-1948 and they are all scarce and desirable.

Yep, agreed we need more TV guys there. If I had a buck for everyone who intends to go then doesnt....
I always go but quit taking TVs. Your 721 was a bargain at $75, I even called a few friends about it.

I am definetly going on Thursday afternoon May 12, and Friday morning. Thats when the action takes place there.

Actually, as a long-time collector of vintage TV's, I have no problem with hearing the values are down. It gives me a better chance of getting some great sets. I was never in it to make money. I just love how they look and watching them.

Agreed, for me, its never been about making money, just the satisfaction from watching listening/smelling an old set working as it should!

Was the loco the square screen or double d? I didn't see it but saw the 721 and it was worth the price. I got there Friday around 3. I will see if I can get the model number of yhr farnsworth.

I agree about the smell! Other collectors I've known have said the same thing. Especially with sets like my RCA 630TS - the wood cabinet, with the heat of the tubes, gives off a pleasant musty odor like walking in an old house. There's just something nice about that!

That smell, along with curling up with an old hand crocheted blanket on a rainy day while watching said television, is probably my favorite thing in life. Or one of them :)

The Farnsworth looked like the 651P. I did not ask the price, because the thing is an absolute monster. Same dealer had it last year and wanted like $400 for it.

I am not complaining about the prices as much as there was so little interest, which forced the prices to the floor just so I did not have to haul this stuff home.

Last time I was at kutztowm it was a different story. A '49 Motorola for $300 in barn-fresh condition, and a fried flyback RCA 630 for $100. Neither seller would budge. Tvs are a little rare at kutztown, but that experience turned me off.
Strangely enough, a pretty nice Philco with its mystery control was only $30, so radio deals were certainly good that day.
