Twilight Zone

A fun episode tonight on MeTv. S2/E4 "A Thing About Machines". A story of a snooty rich guy in his mansion tormented by everything electronic/mechanical in his domain. In the end his car drowns him after his tv, electric typewriter, electric razor and clock try to do the deed. The electric razor chasing him down the steps is worth the wasted time watching this.

The tv is a hilarious mashup of everything in the prop shop. A giant round prop tube set of no known design or style. Perfect for the program. Sightmaster influence comes to mind.

I noticed in the scene where the repairman is working on the set, it uses a rectangular tube.

Old TV shows like the Twilight Zone with this episode and the classic "Static" definitely whetted my curiosity about the early days of radio and TV . These old sets fascinated me and once I started researching, I was totally hooked. I heard of other collectors having the same experience.

Why wasted time? Its been years since I sat through this one but thought it was ok. For me wasted time is watching anything new on Tv now.

This episode and another one had an angry customer with Sterling Holloway (famous voice of Winnie the pooh) as the TV repairman were classics and beg to be watched on a mid-late 50s TV:)
