Just got a 1950 Olympic TV

I just picked up a 1950 Olympic DX619 16" console tv. It is in pretty good shape. The chassis is clean and some work has been done in changing some of the caps. The cabinet will refinish nicely with very little veneer damage. The 16DP4 tested to about 11.5 on my BK 467. Should be serviceable. I have all the knobs too!

The color seems a bit washed out ;), but the chassis looks very easy to service.

Nice score!

Yeah, I had my flash on auto when I took the chassis pics.
Thanks.

Anybody know if this tv is covered in Rider's? If so what volume? Thanks.

You will find it in book five of riders manuals. All the best Tom

Is that a Dumont sourced CRT?
I'm trying to remember how many firms made a glass roundie 16" CRT. I know Philco made the 16LP4, 16" glass roundie. :scratch2:

I think Westinghouse also had a round 16" all glass CRT, although I don't know who made it.

I worked on one of those and the chassis reminds me of the r c a 721 and look out for horizontal mica caps they seem to be leaky on Olympic sets........ wow its working it has a 3d image of a guy taking a picture in Colour lol.

Crist Rigott 07-10-2016 12:58 PM

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind when I do the restoration.

kramden66 07-10-2016 11:43 PM

To be safe check all the Mica caps ...... I have or had the Sam's

Crist Rigott 07-11-2016 01:16 AM
