The 1923 ACE Type V

I just acquired this nice little set and find it so interesting that Powell Crosley bought The Precision Equipment Company as a way to easily obtain the Armstrong license. It works great with a 200A tube and you can see the filament glow in the little peek-hole on the front panel. The chassis is very simple like the Crosley "PUP" with the book capacitor. It's still has the ID tags dated 5-1-1923. The original owner was a Mr. Cory D. Johnson of Bevans, New Jersey

I've seen a few Crosley's from the later years, 50, 51, 52 sets but none of the ACE years. I'm thinking that might be as rare as the Crosley Pup

Thanks for that insight. I hadn't yet known if it's rare or common. A long-time collector I know had it in storage for many years and gave it to me at a fair price as he has almost given-up on dealing with '20's-'40's radios in this market. It's a great little set and the more I read about it and it's connection with Powell Crosley, I find it even more appealing!
