So where are all the Motorola Fiberjet TV's at?

It was probably a little too pricey. I only saw one in 50 or so years. Great working set.

Twice as cool with that original stand shown in the ad! If the TV hardly exists, I imagine finding the stand would be next to impossible.

Gone to scrap yards every one...when will they ever learn?

I have never seen one in the NW.

I saw one when I was about 15 years old - and it was falling apart - delaminating. The heat from the set overcured the epoxy that held the fiberglass together, and it became crispy. Dad did what he could with PC-7 epoxy, but after 2 cans of epoxy, called in a surfboard repair guy. He gave it a clamp/glue job, and got it to where the cabinet would mount together. Mind you, I never saw the "finished" product of the efforts, as I was in school when the customer ( a local locksmith) got his set. The whole repair was one knob and the epoxy job, no electronic work needed.

Capehart had a 19" B/W set with a faint green fiberglass "top" - saw one of those too. The bottom was stamped steel, as was the back. The handle was mounted to the chassis, and merely passed through some holes in the fiberglass. Series-chassis set with odd tubes - 16, 19 volt filaments.

Never saw one in the Mid-Atlantic either, where style always took a backseat to availability and cheep-nis.

City retro-hoes grabbed them, every one.

I have a collector friend that likes these late '50's portables, yet I've never seen that one. Likely from what was stated above, most of those Motorola's ended up in the garbage. There's so many similar looking sets from that period that, although fairly rare, are low in desirability and value. I must say, having a few myself, they're fun to watch classic TV on!

If a halfway decent example of this became available, I'd make a healthy offer on it...

I had one a few years ago. Found it locally on eBay. I could never get it working right after recapping, I think it had silver mica disease in the IFs. I sold it to a guy in California who used to post on this forum. He used that ad as his avatar IIRC.
