My son and I picked up this set in Madison this week. The set supposedly came out of an old trailer the seller told me. I knew this set is going to need lots of TLC. When we got home with set and I started to remove the chassis, I could not believe what was underneath. I think this set is the worst set condition wise I have brought home so far. I won't start on this set till fall at the earliest. The one positive so far is the 10bp4 tests well into the good range.

Looks like you got the companion set to my Dumont mousehouse...Mine had a basketballs worth of nest under it.

Hope they did not chew any coils or too many wires.

It's a good parts set!
A complete set of knobs and a good CRT. I guess I'm getting too fussy in my old age. :sigh:

I acquired a very nice RCA 630TS TV at a garage sale once that the owner stored in his garage. I didn't get it cheap either at $200. When I got it home I found the chassis was a complete mouse house. I think every collector has been through it!

The mice chewed into every universal wound peaking coil, paper capacitor and at just about every wire.

Decojoe67, I don't feel so bad now, I don,t mind the extra work bringing the set back to life. The gentleman I got the set from said there were no signs of rodent infestation.:scratch2: We were both looking at the same set. Since I had already made the trip to Madison and paid a deposit to hold the set a few days earlier, I completed the transaction.

I thought that when I seen the picture of the bottom chassis, where it looked like the mice were chewing on the choke and the output transformer.
That set isn't that rare, not like some of the others.

If the every part is too severely damaged, I have a 20B1 chassis out of a combo unit as a substitute. I'd have to change the crt yoke support. The 20B1 uses a 12LP4.

In regards to that 20B1 chassis, i am in real need of the Horizontal width coil. i have been trying to find one for over the last year.
Since the 30A14S does not use that particular coil, It would'nt be used in the restoration of that chassis. I am very interested in buying / trading for it.

Here's another possible parts source up the road in Tomah. It's been slowly dropping in price since the seller sold off it's knobs.

That set looks like it would the restorer. Ed has the knobs and a good CRT, just in case. Plus it's not a rust-bucket or a mouse house. :thmbsp:
