Painting Predicta CRT Covers
 

Has anybody had any success in painting a Predicta CRT cover? Some of the covers I have are pretty well faded and streaked.

I have with appliance epoxy spray paint. Unlike with regular spray paint...epoxy paint dries hard to a scratch resistant finish that is nice and glossy.

They are very amenable to buffing out, you can wet sand out the defects with 600 grit and work your way up to a polish, they look like new that way.

I’d also suggest sanding and polishing, vs paint. Also a set of Micro Mesh sand papers can truly help get the shine back. I’d maybe start with 400 or 600 grit, work up to 1000 or 1200 grit, then start with the 1500 Micro Mesh and work all the way up to 12,000 grit Micro Mesh.

If you choose to paint anything that has a smooth surface like plastic (or glass) ALWAYS apply a coat of Zinsser primer, either B-I-N or Bulls-Eye-123. They're great when used on any surface, but absolutely necessary on smooth, non-porous surfaces. I can attest from personal experience that these primers WILL stick to smooth surfaces. (Paint by itself usually will not.)
