California Vintage TV Event - May 18
 

Our 6th annual CHRS vintage TV gathering will be held on Saturday, May 18. This year, there are two new twists:

- It's not in the Bay Area (Sacramento area this year)

- It's a two part event, at two different collector's homes

First stop:

DATE: May 18, 2019
TIME: 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM
LOCATION: Citrus Heights, CA

Second stop:

TIME: 3:30 - 5:00 PM
LOCATION: Wilton, CA

I don't want to publish the names and addresses of these private homes online, but if you simply PM me, I'll give you all the details.

The collector at our first stop has a wonderful collection of over thirty 7-inch electrostatic sets, and most of our presentations (and lunch) will be there. The collector at our second stop has some early color sets, including an RCA TM-10 studio monitor (1954), an RCA CT-100 (1954), and the very rare Stromberg-Carlson K-1 (1955). Travel time between the two is a little over a half hour.

In addition to viewing vintage sets and chatting with fellow TV collectors, we'll have several presentations and some nice technical demonstrations as well. More details about these as the schedule firms up (I'll post updates in the coming weeks).

Usually we have this event in the Bay Area, but with it being in the Sacramento area this year, the event will be accessible to more collectors from that area (and perhaps as far east as Reno/Tahoe). If you're game for a longer drive, we'd be delighted to have visitors from however far you're willing to come. Maybe someone from southern California will venture north to join us this time?

That sounds interesting ... I had a few of those while my 15GP22 was dying but
not dead. They are now removed, see my thread for the current state. I'd like to hear
what this presenter has to say!

I'm giving that particular presentation, and I'll be happy to send you the slides after I finish preparing it. In my case, the 15GP22 is not dying from loss of vacuum, but rather the red gun is simply pretty weak. Seems like this was a set that was actually watched enough to wear out the CRT. Most of what I'll be presenting is stuff I've already posted on here, so if you followed my previous threads on the CT-100, you already know most of it.

I'd love to get the slides, just for curiosity. My tube too was wearing out when I got it.
Its stupefying how good the RGB signals feeding the now-dead CRT from my CT-100 look
on a pro-grade Sony Trinitron monitor.

I found that thread of yours. Very similar to my experience before the CRT went gassy.
