Predicta Heat Barrier for 10L43 Chassis

Guys,

I have a 10L43A chassis for a Continental that was missing the heat barrier between the HOT and Damper tubes and the HV cage. So I decided to make a copy of the one on the other 10L43A chassis that I have.

For the heat blanket I went to the local Summit Racing store and picked up some Thermo-Tec #13500 heat barrier. It is 12 x 12 and .041 thick. It is good up to 2000 degrees and it has a sticky back. I can get 4 heat barriers from this piece.

I used my CAD program to draw it out and saved it to a .pdf file which is attached to this post.

I used some 3M 77 spray and lightly glued the pattern to the foil side. Then i peeled off the backing and stuck it on some thin (.008) tin that I use to make model airplane fuel tanks from. Then I used some scissors to cut it out. I used a 1 inch Forstner bit to drill out the hole for the HV lead to the HOT.

I then used some 3/8 wide Kapton tape to line the edges to eliminate any fraying of the heat blanket. I bent it along the dotted lines using my steel ruler and the edge of the workbench.

Turned out real nice.
