My Philco predicta Continental has a problem when anything bright is on the screen like graphics (letters) or a lamp in the scene, etc. Is there an adjustment that can be made first to try and solve this problem? I use a DVD player to get a signal. The same one I use on all of my other sets. Advice appreciated. It has a pretty good picture otherwise.

Looks like your set lacks DC restoration circuits in the video chain.

Lack of DC restoration certainly contributes to the problem. Reducing the video modulation level will reduce the problem.

Bottom line is that you need to look to see if you are overmodulating.

Poor low frequency video response also contributes. Check the coupling capacitors after the video detector and ensure they are at least 0.1 ufd.
