A 1949 Crosley 9-425 lives again!

A friend just finished the restoration of the chassis for my 1949 Crosley 9-425 7" portable TV. You would not believe the bag of old wax caps that came out of it's split Sentinel chassis. The bag must weigh 5lbs.! This very clean example of Crosley's only 7" early post-war TV, and it's of very good quality. It even has a quality screened hinged rear panel. It has it's lid with the all brass rabbit-ear antenna's. As always, the photo with the set on does not do the picture justice. It's one of the best 7" players I've seen.

Thanks. There's nothing like getting a TV that was dormant for 60+ years, working and back in shape. Anything you watch on them seems 10X better than on a modern TV.

Very nice, and rare, especially in that condition.

Yes, thank you. It wasn't cheap to obtain and have repaired, but it's one I couldn't pass on. It's interesting that Crosley waited until 1949 to offer a 7" portable and then outsourced the chassis from Sentinel, which was a great choice by the way. They used one of the nicest Tolex covered cabinets I've ever seen from this period. Heavy and solid as a rock with a very appealing tan and brown two-tone color. I like the brass "Crosley" emblem with the lightening bolt through it placed above the screen too.
