CTC-16(possibly XL) late or CTC-20 (last RCA roundy) I'd grab it in a heartbeat if it was close by.

I think it is a 1966 New Vista CTC-16 color tv.

We were RCA dealers in those years, but I can't ever recall seeing a UHF dial like that..

This is how I remember them:

We were RCA dealers too, and never seen a knob like that. Looks like a cross-species transplant.

I'm thinking its a CTC20.. Those and that knob layout aren't common.

It's one of the "Custom Collection" sets. They were only sold by certain dealers and had a "K" at the end of the model number.

The model picture I posted may be different because the set at the estate sale may be a metal cabinet.

So was this supposed to be a higher end set? It looks a bit more interesting and fancy than the more common RCA designs.

The only CTC-20s that I remember selling were in a black metal cabinet with optional screw-on legs. Ultra low-end of the color TV line.

I had a wood grain metal CTC-20... I'm still kicking myself for selling it.

This was the last roundie for RCA. I have a friend that has one of those and we think RCA was using up existing inventory parts to make a less expensive color TV at that time when the rectangulars were already out.

old_coot88 05-22-2020 09:04 PM

Yep the '20 was based on the CTC-19, which was originally developed to drive the brand-new 19" rectangular CRT. To drive the 21" round tube, it was reworked and designated CTC-20. This was the genesis of all the 6GH8-eating chassis series. :D:blah:

I'm going to look at it tomorrow. I'll report back.
