Sony FD-210 Adjustments

I picked up a FD-210 in decent shape—battery door broke off but otherwise it works well except low picture contrast and low audio level.

I can’t find a service manual online so thought I’d ask here. For contrast adjustment, I pulled the front panel and found 2 large adjustment points (left seems like brightness, right focus) and 8 small. Sony didn’t label them like later watchmen, so I’m not sure if one of the 8 is contrast, or if they are all RF and picture alignment. Thoughts welcome before I start twiddling.

Also: the audio is significantly lower than later sets (that I have a lot more experience with, I’ve never had a 210!). I suspect the very small side-firing speaker limits audio performance but curious what I should expect. Audio level over headphones is excellent.

I’m using a blonder tongue agile modulator setup, FWIW, reception and sharpness are great!

Hi Loplop.I have the same set here that I will be working later this year.It fires up but i did not put a VCR signal into it to see if it still works..

I would not recommend you to touch those controls.................

I recommend to find a service manual or if somebody could post a photo of the alignment page here with the control names..
