Westinghouse 22" Rectangular TV
Does anyone know of any articles on this 1958 TV? Or any threads about the restoration on this TV? I believe that someone did a restoration on one last year (2020).

I don't remember any threads on them last year but there were a couple of topics on them in the last 15 years. IIRC only 2 examples are known to survive. Those sets were recalled because they had convergence and purity issues.
If you are using a web browser and not that stupid tapatalk app, try opening the search link in a new tab....it gives you a ton of options for refining how and where within Videokarma. |

I thought the label meant that it originally had a 21AXP22! :thumbsdn: The chassis was a cheapie series string, PC board chassis. I only seen one and that was many years ago. |
Why did they have series filaments and no power transformer like everyone else? I guess if the 22" CRT had worked out, they would have had a set with a bigger, rectangular picture and be able to undercut RCA's prices. That might have been a game changer indeed. At least, it would have given Sarnoff a Maalox moment.

RCA was selling color TVs at a loss from the beginning well into the 60s.
Removing the power transformer reduced the cost of the set significantly. IIRC silvertone had a 50s 21" color set that was also series string. |
I think this is the thread on the restoration of one of these sets.

Thanks, Eric. I did a search on the web site and found that thread. Very interesting to say the least. I think the problem was the mounting system for the shadow mask, because the 23EGP22 and the 25AP22 came out a few years later and did not have the same shadow mask problem.
