1987 Magnavox Console Set

I just acquired a 1987 Magnavox Console Set in a very nice condition cabinet. The Set does not work at the present time. I plugged it in and briefly comes on, but blows the fuse in the Main Board each time you press the power button.

I presume it is having an issue of High Voltage when turned on thus the reason it blows the fuse out?

Any ideas on what might be the issue or issues with this set and where to start looking for faulty parts?

I do not even know if the set is fixable? The previous owner said it was last used they thought about 10 years ago and thought it had a pretty good picture on it yet at that time. It was stored in an area that had an issue of high moisture in the building it was stored in. I can provide the Model and also the Chassis Number.

Thanks.

Usually if its the main fuse typ 4A it will be in the primary
of the power supply. IIRC a shorted H. out causes shutdown
on these.
Also look around the PS & H. out for burned PCB & cold joints.
Caps off the H. out collector also gave trouble. Sometimes they
burned & started the PCB on fire.

This set is covered in Sams 2594
A later similar version is in Sams 2711
Its a way over complex design. They used about 75 small parts
to do what 20 parts could.

A few notes were scratched in the manual.
1) Dead set R467 open. Pulsating channel display R426 open.
2) Q503 ( H drive ) is circled. T502 noted with "cold joint"

After the visuals check Q405 & Q501 for dead short. If you
get a short E-C lift 2 legs to see if the short is the transistor or
on the chassis.
