Zenith Chromatenna leads
 

Okay, maybe a stupid question, but I can't seem to trace the connections with a meter, so I have to ask.

On this antenna there are two sets of twin leads (one clear and one black). Which is VHF and which is UHF? At the moment I'm using it as an antenna on my Pioneer SX-1080. Got so tired of messing with the darn dipole every time I changed stations.

If this is a set-top antenna, the clear or gold twin-lead was meant for UHF, the VHF was the standard brown.

Put a meter across the leads in Rx1 range and if the antenna's UHF element is a loop, run the switch around and generally, the UHF twin lead will measure very low, almost an ohm.

Try it both ways on a weak station. See which works better WITHOUT moving them.Keep in mind the switches were crap on most set top ears. We used Rembrant brand & some Zeniths.

Thanks, will give that a shot. I was trying with the tone setting from one lead to an antenna or loop. It toned both ways, so I figured they were all interconnected internally. I can't open the base as I'd have to remove the felt to find the screws (magnet search of screws didn't work).

I was going to deoxit the switches and knobs, eventually.
