Sony Indextron KV-4SV2 trying to repair

4 Attachment(s)
I have a Sony Indextron KV-4SV2 TV and I have cleaned the boards the best I could after removing the caps and then replacing them.
The TV has a red standby light and when I press the power button it will turn on and I can hear snow from the speaker.
I have an analogue tv TX which the tv picks up and I can hear the sound ok but the CRT does not startup.
The Heater on the CRT does not glow.
Where there should be 50V input coming from the mainboard to the rear CRT board there is only 1 volt.
That where my knowledge ends, This tv needs a guru to fix it.
Thanks for any advice :)
The black TV also needs alot of TLC.

It is my understanding that these sets were/are infamous for needing the electrolytics replaced. Not sure if it was a design flaw that overheated them or if they were inferior quality caps to begin with (or a bad batch).

In any case, that's a nice little (and highly valuable) collection you have.

Thanks and as per my post I mentioned I have already replaced the caps that were mostly all leaking.
The Elna brand caps were a bad choice by Sony and leaked badly.
Plus there is a daughter board that sits sideways above the main D1 board and is full of caps that leaked onto the board below.
I was told Andy is the guy who fixes these.

I noted that you already recapped. Just was commenting on the issue.

Look at H1 & H2 on the CTR socket. USUALLY there is a pulsating apx 8 V P-P
from the FBT to run the filaments.
Depending on the design you may have no HV.
If you have one post a READABLE schematic, HV & CRT socket areas most important.
BTW when you see that mung from leaked caps it must be clean it up !

Andy did mine a few years ago. 30+ caps changed and multiple PCB traces rotted from the leakage and repaired. The traces were the hardest to find and fix.

You may want to check the continuity of the traces if you haven’t already done so. You are aware your set is a Japanese market model? Do you have the remote control? I see the remote sensor at the lower left. The American KVX 370 dose not have remote capability. Possible interaction with the remote might solve your problem if everything else checks out.

Andy is the guy. He repaired my two, 11 and 8 years ago. Still up and running.

If you don’t have the service and schematics, you can get them here for the KVX 370.

Hope all goes well.

Thanks I have contacted Andy and hopefully I can send them to him for repair :)
